Residents not lucky enough to score an invite to the Karl Lagerfeld soiree watched from their balconies.
It was the designer's first visit to the communist country, WWD reported.

Before the show, guests were given a tour of the city which included stops at Ernest Hemingway's house and an exhibit of Lagerfeld's photography at the cigar Factoria Havana.
They were later driven to show in rainbow-hued vintage convertibles by drivers that wore guayaberas, a woven shirt native to the Caribbean island.

Lagerfeld's swanky affair comes on the heels of Monday's arrival of the first U.S. cruise ship to dock in Havana in nearly 40 years.
Carnival Cruise Line’s Adonia became the first U.S. cruise ship in Havana since President Jimmy Carter eliminated restrictions on U.S. travel to Cuba in the late 1970s.
Travel limits were lifted on Dec. 17, 2014 after President Obama ordered restoration of full diplomatic relations ending years of cold war hostility with Cuba and Castro's regime.
